Open.Basket

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 12 June 2026

Overview

Open.Basket is an independent iOS prototype that helps testers compare estimated matched-basket grocery prices for Sydney Metro. Open.Basket is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Coles or Woolworths.

Data handled by the TestFlight build

External TestFlight builds use a deployed read-only Sydney catalogue service by default. Basket selections, quantities, region choices, comparison results, and receipt contents remain on the device. Catalogue searches and source-status requests may be processed by Supabase to return grocery results and operate the service.

Open.Basket does not include user accounts, advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, payment flows, tracking permission requests, or location permission requests.

Receipt scanning and text entry

If you scan or paste a receipt, Open.Basket processes receipt text on device to match items and may save parsed receipt text and selected line items locally in SwiftData. Receipt images/text are not uploaded by the TestFlight build.

Camera permission is requested only when you choose the receipt scanning flow. The scanner uses Apple's on-device document camera and text recognition APIs.

Local storage

The app uses Apple SwiftData to save basket contents locally on the device. This local data is not sent to Open.Basket by default. Testers can remove locally stored app data by deleting the app from the device or simulator.

Catalogue service

The TestFlight build calls read-only Supabase Edge Functions for public catalogue, offer, and source-status data. The iOS app does not include service-role keys, database passwords, private retailer tokens, browser cookies, or scraper credentials.

Product images

Product thumbnails are loaded from catalogue-provided external image URLs when available. Open.Basket does not download, bundle, or rehost retailer image files in its app bundle. Neutral item markers are shown when an image URL is missing or fails to load.

Children

Open.Basket is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

This policy may be updated as Open.Basket changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
